i've been taking quite a few black and white photos lately. some of them are pretty =). i've really missed black and white photography.

i spent most of today asleep =(. i am trying to get rid of my cold/flu/fever + stuffy nose business, but it has not been successful! dratz. i have been drinking orange juice, taking day/nyquil, eating chicken noodle soup, eating gummie vitamins... COME ON. blah.

on another note... i have a new umbrella. it's red with a bunch of little umbrellas on it =). it's very small and compact, which is good... but, i don't like how the pole part is kind of short... but, oh well. it's quite cute. i am waiting for aerie to get their winter crap so i can buy the sock-bootie-slipper things.

anyways, i am not in mississauga. i am in stinky waterloo trying to get unsick. and again, i have a whole bunch of shit that needs to get done:

i am procrastinating. i should have my thesis topic for one class done by this point. i should have selected a passage for another essay by this point and be working on its outline. whatever. i just wrote my mom's birthday card. she's turning forty seven in a a week and a bit. i remember how in elementary school i'd tell people my mom was thirty-enter-whatever-number-it-was-then. oh, how time has passed.

speaking of time passing. mike and i will be at twenty one months tomorrow =). it didn't click in my head that we reached the twenties until he pointed it out. it's nice when he remembers things like that. we're going to watch "nick and norah's infinite playlist" to celebrate. then, i'll have to wake up six in the morning to get to work on saturday =(. boo. i'll try to work on my essay that's due on monday during work... since no one comes by at before eleven in the morning anyways. i just ruined this paragraph that was meant to a nice little one about my boyfriend by bringing up work =(. i stink.

on another note. it's my dear sarah's birthday today. happy twentieth birthday lady! and goddamn, you're not picking up your phone =(. no worries, i'll keep ringing you until you pick up.

i think i miss home right now. or rather i just miss an urban landscape. i've been cooped up in a room that feels like it's getting smaller by the day. a room that gets smaller as piles of readings grow and i sit there thinking selfish thoughts. i have been unproductive. my hands smell like clementines. my room smells like boy. the halls smell like spray on deodorant. i am getting lost. i've been clumsy as of late. but, it's really just my hands. i've been dropping shit everyday. my arm is bruised. the shot saves you from hpv, but it leaves you branded bluish-purple. i try to cover it up in case of people think my boyfriend beats me. i know that's not something to joke about, but it's one of those things that i can't help myself from saying. apologies for those who suffer domestic abuse.

    ****

i think i am in love with manchester orchestra. a band that makes pretty sounds. please listen to them. i think you might just fall in love. i have been preoccupied with madness. at the moment, i am procrastinating from listening to lecture #2 of english 362. and by procrastinating i know that i am utterly fucking myself in the ass by wasting my very limited time away. i am a fucker. i don't mean to be self-deprecating. but, who isn't. so fuck. i wasted my money on pirated dvds because i just don't give shit about copyrights anymore. fuck it. just take shit. i think this is the beginning of me turning into a kleptomaniac. if you know me and things are missing, assume that it is me. i kid. anyways. the world of academia is constantly finding ways to make me slightly sad, but what would the world be without a bit of sadness right? we need a little frowns to make those who are all smiles feel slightly better of themselves. thus, let me have it. i will suffer for the next three months, but in the end it shall be worth it. i can say i accomplished something. and isn't that what we want at the end of the day? that we got shit done. i guess enjoying the day is important too. but, whatever. i find my enjoyment in the music that pours out of my headphones. the boyfriend smiling and telling me how cute i look when i sleep (even though i look like a beached whale). the beat up little bear that reminds me of the boyfriend. the polaroids on the wall of faces that i miss and love. the printed words of whatever piece of literature i am reading. and i suppose the ever so juicy and trashy episode of gossip girl here and there. not to mention, the feeling knowing that i get to go back home after the term is over. i fucking miss home. so there. i am going to continue how crap school is, even though i secretly enjoy every moment of enriching my mind.

    passed out on the overpass
    sunday best and broken glass

you and me were kings over the parkway tonight
and tonight will go on forever while we
walk around this town like we own the streets
and stay awake through summer like we own the heat
singing "everybody wake up (wake up) it's time to get down"
(everybody, everybody wake up its time to get down)
and when I pass the bottle back to pee
on the overpass tonight, i bet we laugh

so we can stay like this forever (new stitches)

so, i haven't been very active with the lj as of late. my apologies. things have been slightly chaotic as of late. for example... i am now employed. i work as an FDA in REV and V1. it's a pretty relaxed job and the hours work in my favour. this all means that i can start paying off things that i bought during the trip such as a new camera and marc by marc jacobs wallet. i am also pretty excited for school start off. i know i say this every term and all i do is continue to bitch during the term... but, i'm excited for the whole new notebooks new things to plan and organize around. i am hoping that the amount of readings this term doesn't kill me. i have seven novels for one course, the odyssey for another, and the rest seem to be a mystery. however, i think the amount of writing for my courses might also be fatal... creative writing and four other essay driven courses. let's all wish me the best and hope that i can still live =) after the four months.

i'm in toronto at the moment. our trip is winding to an end. mabel is jetting off on saturday. tomorrow afternoon we're heading out to the loo. at the moment, mabel is walking around in her new shoes and is tying the laces up in multiple ways. also, i wore shoes without socks today and my feet are smelly =/. well, let me try to write a super quick update or rather highlights of my trip...
+ i bought yellow and royal blue nikes. my love for sneakers and bright colours continues!
+ i saw a drifter on the side of the train tracks on my way out to toronto.
+ i saw one llama on the train from toronto to montreal.
+ i saw a farmer plowing on a field close to kingston.
+ mabel and i just had delicious burritos from burrito boyzin toronto.
+ i bought a new skirt from american apparel.
+ i bought a new bag for school from aa.
+ mabel and i had some shit sangria from a mexican restaurant in montreal.
+ the concierge at the hotel formed a liking for mabel and i.
+ in montreal, second cup workers wear berets.
+ mabel and i finally got to hang out after a good long eight months of being on opposite sides of the country.
+ we went to the museum of fine arts in montreal!
    + THE ROM AND DINOSAURS!!!!
+ we went to an insane gallery in montreal called the darling foundry.
+ mabel and i took pictures in a photo booth.
    + i bought lots of underwear! =D
+ mabel and i bought egg tarts at a chinese bakery in toronto's chinatown.
+ i bought mike's mom really pretty looking and smelling soaps from a place in montreal. one of the soaps looks like a watermelon slice! oh! and they're glycerine soaps, so it's the good shit =D.
+ mabel and i had poutine at mcdonalds in montreal.
+ i have used my bathing suit multiple times!
+ i bought fernando a sailor costume and a knitted sweater from this like french canadian version of build a bear. it was crappier quality there, but more pricey.

anyways, that's all for now. i shall put up a playlist in a bit. for now, i must help mabel get the cable functioning on the teley.

i feel like a flabby sloth. i need to get some exercise. i haven't been doing my ds yoga =(. i also haven't been outside since thursday. i've been brainstorming for the part b portion of my take home exam. aside from that, i've been watching old episodes of the office and i've been seriously looking into getting a five star flex notebinder thing. i don't like reusing notebooks after a term is over since i never have enough paper in the binder for two terms... but, i always have paper left over. so, i am thinking that it might be more ecofriendly if i get the notebinder dealy... i'll use it as a notebook only and use a binder as well for my school subjects. plus, overall i think i would save some money since i won't be constantly buying notebooks. and being a stationery geek, this change in format is exciting for me. i shall update at the end of the fall term and let everyone know if the switch has been worthwhile.

i've consumed an abundant amount of chocolate covered almonds today. blaah. however, the box it came in was really fancy. i shall post a picture soon. i am bored right now. mike is studying. i am supposed to be studying. blaaah... BOREDOM BE GONE! but, man i feel lazy. hrmm... i had a nice cup of english breakfast today =). hooray for twinings! my love for sanrio has also affected my beverages sort of... i drank some strawberry calpico earlier today. by chance, hello kitty was on the bottle. i love calpico and now i slightly love it more since hello kitty loves it too.

i am quite excited to go to montreal. i am also going to lobby for a new digital camera... perhaps my older brother will buy me one. these are the options i am looking into:
  • fuji finepix (z20) 10mp digital camera in black or green; retails at $200
  • nikon coolpix (s550) 10mp digital camera in black or purple; retails at $240 (currently $10 off at futureshop)
  • samsung (L210) 10.2mp digital camera in black; retails at $199 (currently $50 off at futureshop)
  • sony cybershot (dsct2w) 8.1mp digital camera in white; retails at $350 (i probably won't end up getting this one, but my god it's a beauty.)

i primarily want a camera has the pictbridge interface so i can buy the polaroid zink to get instant pictures. wooohoooo. i am thinking that the nikon one and i could be good friends =).

    anyways that is allllllllllllllll....................

so, my stressful week has come to an end. the essays are done and handed in. i have a take home exam due on the 5th and a final exam on the 11th. i plan on rocking the 201 final exam. but, aside from the last two orders of business, i am free to enjoy what is left of summer. mabel and i discussed the montreal trip. we've got some major plans and i am stoked. however, we realized we only have three full days in the city and a lot of ground to cover. so, hopefully we can do it all =). i am also going to try to talk my mother into getting me a new digital camera. i want a sleek and slim one, no more of this point and shoot nonsense.

onto other randomness... this is my plans for tomorrow... or rather today...
  • wake up and do some ds yoga.
  • read the windeatt texts for my 310a final exam.
  • answer the first question of take home exam based on the above reading.
  • do more ds yoga.
  • make a delicious pasta dinner for the lover and i.
  • work on my 201 short story study chart.
  • do more ds yoga.
  • no napping.

onto more exciting news... our house finally got a proper garbage can. and we got a swiffer! hooray to steps to a cleaner apartment! i also got a bunch of pocky a few days ago... the flavours: blueberry, almond, coconut, and milk. i may have bought more... i don't remember, but nonetheless yay! what other groceries did i buy... oh! chocolate ovaltine =). oh and my favourite mints! they're korean mints called "anytime" and they have xylitol in them. i also stocked up on my beloved lunchables of crackers and cheese =D. OH!!! I BOUGHT MORE TEAAAAAA! a twinings variety pack with earl grey (which i have a box of), lady grey, irish breakfast, and english breakfast, then some tetley peppermint tea. i had fun buying groceries =).

i gave mike a key to the apartment. it wasn't done out of some super romantic gesture. it was more out of convenience. however, i put a giant 's' keychain on it to make it slightly romantical. i also bought myself a giant 'm' to put on my key. pictures will be posted when i am less lazy =).

so, now to the most important thing! fernando has a pumpkin costume! we were going to get him a scuba suit, but they were gone. so, mike got him the pumpkin costume instead. he's going to look sooo damn cute on halloween. i will post pictures later =D.

    anyways... music...

i am a fan of pretty music. call it sissy rock or whatever you want, but a sweet and subtle acoustic guitar mixed with a whispery voice to poetic lyrics wins my heart faster than puppies. (that's saying a lot, i love puppies.) thus, mabel you eternally have my jealousy for getting a chance to see conor oberst and the mystic valley band. god, i love that man. i felt like saying boy instead of man... he's twenty-eight now... i suppose he is a man... but, god i love him.

i am procrastinating at the moment from researching/writing an essay. fucking eh. i am processing in my head how i am going to approach this all... and listening to the mystic valley band. i think i might make another cup of tea to drink out of my new chococat tumbler. then i shall revise my chaucer paper up a bit (or at least what i have). then i shall write my introduction/plan a bit more for my english 201 essay. SHIIIIT. why did i waste this week? JKALDHAKL. i think i might spend my day in the library tomorrow. try to get something down....

so, batman was pretty darn amazing. i don't want to go into a review or anything like that, all i can say is that i was lucky to enjoy a midnight screening. the visuals were spectacular. heath ledger was amazing as the joker and you can truly see an actor dedicated to his craft. he locked himself up in a hotel room for a month to get into the mindset of the joker. he was also quite humorous =). my old man crush, gary oldman was also enjoyable =D. all in all, it was awesome and it's something i can see watching over and over again. however, my only problem with it is the fact that harvey dent died, which sort of ruins the possibility of two-face returning as a full-fledged villain.

moving on... i got a chococat lamp as a gift from a dear friend =). i am quite excited about it. i don't have anywhere to put it, so i am going to try and pick up a small bookshelf to put next to my bed as a night stand and a storage centre. it's a rice paper lamp that gives off a soothing glow, so i am stoked to use it.

school has been slow. i did about zero work yesterday and wrote about two sentences today and read over a little sheet... I AM FUCKING SHIT UP. kalshjdkalhdkald. thus, i am not going to bed until i get some serious amounts of work done on my harry potter essay and revise my chaucer essay. i am pissed off at myself. i am pisseeeeeedddd offffffffffffffffff.

other things to note... there was a super cute coca cola commercial before the movie started...

i had an interesting weekend. my mac decided to be an overheating machine and melt my power cord. apple's website and a representative told me that an apple dealership or an apple store would replace the cord for me despite my warranty expiring. i was like sweet, my problem is only temporary. at the moment, i absolutely need my laptop. i stress the absolutely because it's essay season. with the cord being melted and wire being exposed, it was still able to charge my laptop if i jiggled the wire a bit. however, this is not very safe and could create a fire hazard. anyways, so i go to the campus tech shop and the guy won't replace it. i call another place in kitchener, same deal. they both recommend that i go to toronto to an apple store. my roommate had the intention of going to the GTA to pick up her busted car. thus, i could've gone with her... but, i call an apple store they tell me that i need to book an appointment at the genius bar and that replacing my cord isn't a for sure thing. thus, i don't want to waste a whole bunch of time going down to toronto and have them tell me they won't replace it. thus, i just bought a new cord for $100. my computer is an asshole. the battery dies. it overheats. it melts shit. JKASHDKLAHDAKLH.

onto other things. i am falling behind in work. this has probably been my greatest complaint over the last few weeks. but, it is true. i am racing time now and i need to get into "essay focus mode". i've been sleeping later than usual... so, i've been staying up to work. i've completed my readings for english 208c. i still have to make headway into chaucer's troilus and criseyde... and i still have a few readings to do for english 201. *note to self: stop venting about focusing and focus goddamn it!* tomorrow and friday, i shall finish my english 208c essay (due on the 24th), work the life out of my 310a essay, and get some ample amounts of research done for my english 201 paper. i am determined to be studious!

onto other things now... i am going to be watching batman at 12:15am on friday. what up. i am stoooooked. i've waited oh so long for this. we're going to all you can eat sushi for a late dinner and then we're going to head over to the theatre to camp for our sweet seats. i will probably rant about the movie afterwards. saturday, we're going to a bbq-party thing. yay! however, my only concern is that i need to be focused on school right now. so, i need to get as much work done on friday as possible. i can't fool around on sunday, i need to use my time wisely. but, nonetheless some fun things are lined up for the weekend.

i have finally christened my phone with a cell phone dangly! this is what it looks like:

it's not exactly what i had in mind for a dangly... i would've preferred a chococat or cinnamoroll... or another sanrio character... but, i shall settle for a hello kitty harajuku girl. mabel will be bringing me a totoro soot spirit plushy one soon anyways =).

onto other sanrio awesomeness. i got some new pens. they're simple not as fancy as my chococat ones... but, they have the old school sanrio characters like pekkle and keroppi!

    be jealous.

anyways, that is all the news i have.

i am at the dana porter library right now doing some research for my chaucer paper. a lot of the dido related articles that i have found are not from the past ten years. sajkdhajkdhalkda. i am currently looking for articles on how chaucer approaches gender and medieval gender views. i will also have to go through all my findings eventually... tonight shall be research night and also reading troilus and criseyde night. and reading harry potter and the philosopher night as well. wait hold on, this is what needs to get done tonight:
  • read "stones" by timothy findley
  • make a solid essay topic for english 201
  • look into articles on the iceberg theory/read some more background information on it. hello wikipedia =).
  • go through my research findings for my english 310a essay
  • read some troilus and criseyde
  • look more into the various classes in harry potter
  • try to write an introduction for english 208c essay
  • read HPPS

baldhlakhja. i feel busy and it feels good, but stressful. i dislike feeling like a lazy sloth, but then when things get busy... they get busy folks. i need to reorganize and start focusing on studying/essay writing. on a brighter note, i rocked the 201 midterm =). 46.5/50 yay for me =)!

i also have to make a list of all the things for mabel and i to do in montreal/toronto/waterloo. i plan on taking her to niko niko in waterloo for dinner one night... maybe the starlight? we'll see. but, we are for sure going to the ROM when we're in toronto. no ifs and buts. ROM!

i love sushi. i just had some today at mr. sushi. it was alright. i miss the places back home in vancouver. i expect mabel to bring me goodies from daiso and other lovely vancouver places. however, i don't expect much due to this insane "no checked baggage" rule for the train rides. blasdjhkal. i must pack light. i believe this is possible since it's summer... lots of shorts and t-shirts. i'm also planning on purchasing some goods in the land of the canadiens and in toronto. august 18th! ljashdah! however, i will be bored out of mind for seven hours on the train... alone... by myself... alone =(. reruns of arrested development and reading hemingway here i come! i'll probably also pay to use the wireless connection on the train. i shall begin the mabel and steph travel blog leading up to the dates. we'll try to post nightly updates about what's been happening and try to post up lovely pictures of us being losers. our first big plan for montreal is to go out to dinner and drink the novelty drinks. then perhaps a little perusing here and there. MONTREAL YAY!

i am procrastinating at the moment from multiple things. chaucer essay. reading troilus and criseyde. finishing my journal for english 201. reading roll of thunder, hear my cry. various other things... tonight, i want to feel accomplished. i shall work hard after hanging out with mike/dinner. i shall also do some DS yoga =D.

fernando got a new onesie from babygap. he looks superbly cute. it has a turtle on it and it says "turtley awesome". teehee lol omg. i love my build a bear =).

so, i didn't do any of the research that i was supposed to do for my chaucer essay. kasdjaldha. i am starting to piss myself off because i've been lazy with school work as of late. it's the summer heat that's getting to my head. after this post, i shall be spending hours on the MLA database looking for journal articles to enhance my argument.

on another note, i got back my 208c midterm. i would've gotten an A if i didn't do something completely stupid... i never provided a thesis statement. ahahaha i know, completely dumb. i was meaning to go back to it, but i forgot due to time winding down. oh well... i got an A-, good enough. i shall dazzle on the essay and in-class final.

i really want a klean kanteen water bottle. my apartment building doesn't have a recycling system and i feel guilty throwing away a whole bunch of plastic water bottles. thus, i shall get bigger jugs of water or my own brita filter (since the one sitting on the kitchen counter is questionable) and fill up my kanteen. teehee. shit, i really want one. i am going to order one and pick it up from this place in kitchener. then i shall be friend to the ecological system and rid myself of plastic bottle guilt.

this weekend i shall be essay-ing it up and catching up on school since i've been an asshole about that stuff.

i am pretty excited about the fall semester... maybe, it's cause i'm just excited to see all the new textbooks on my shelves. maybe, it's cause i'm going to be doing some serious creative writing (by force) after being on hiatus for two years. maybe, it's cause i'll get to read hemingway for a course... there's other reasons.

so, everything is booked for the montreal/toronto/waterloo trip. i am beyond stoked. we are staying in a downtown hotel in the financial district. it's in between concordia and mcgill, so it works out perfectly for mabel and i. we're also close to the museums, galleries, and shopping areas... more importantly, we're close to a subway/metro station. montreal! hoorah! it shall be a blast. we're going to go swimming on the hotel's rooftop pool. what up.

my goal of completing a bunch of stuff today/yesterday never happened. i am a bag of lazy bones. thus, i shall stay up a bit later tonight write my journal entry for english 201, read a few boethius passages, and finish off charlotte's web. however, i haven't even started troilus and criseyde and haven't finished the house of fame. i am falling behind and screwing myself over. alkjdhksadhajlkd. i also need to pick out my essay topics by tomorrow. three essay topics. well, technically two, i picked out one... i just need to do further research on the topic before i am "set". i am even procrastinating by typing up this journal entry. wtf. oh well, i was in the mood to write on my lj... it is getting me in the mood to write before i write my journal entry.

other news, i am finished work. yay! it was enjoyable employment... despite the handful of devil children. i am now unemployed once again =D. back to the way i should be lol.

mike and i started a new puzzle. it is going to be a monster. it's a van gogh "starry night" photo mosaic. we had minor difficulties with the border.... thus, i believe we're going to be super alkshjdkahdald during the process.

i've been spending major amounts of cash this month. my parents will be slightly pissed, but a lot of things happened where i had to pay for things that were out of hand. medicine, sunscreen, shorts, bigger phone bill, my birthday... lol. these things add up! however, i shall be good with my money and spend my days studying/writing my essays. then come montreal, SPLURGGGG!

on another note, i decided to reward myself when i finish my undergrad with an imac. i will use my macbook pro in my office if i become a masters student... and use my desktop at home. then my computer desk will serve its actual function and i can get a new glass table from ikea to "work" on. i shall remodel my room!

oh! i also finally got the "softies" instruction book. i shall be making little plushies on my spare time =D. i must also finish captain olimar before the fall term starts. he shall look grand. so many things to do before the summer ends...
  • finish captain olimar
  • finish puzzle w/mike
  • finish three term papers
  • make softies
  • read the sun also rises by ernest hemingway
  • read love in the time of cholera by gabriel garcia marquez
  • read memories of my melancholy whores by gabriel garcia marquez
  • purchase the complete collection of ernest hemingway short stories
  • reread franny & zooey by j.d. salinger
  • clean up my room to be nice and tidy, not cluttery (especially my desk)
  • add more photos to my walls
  • take more photographs and experiment with my lomograph coloursplash
  • get fit LOL

    alright good enough...
  • the watson twins - "just like heaven" (the cure cover)
  • mystery jets - "bleeding love" (leona lewis cover)
  • french kicks - "love in the ruins"
  • the beatles - "twist and shout"

so, mabel and i starting to get to the heart of planning montreal. flights and trains are being booked. what up land of poutine. i expect us to be geeking out the trip quite a bit... i.e. looking at schools, going to galleries and museums, and m taking embarrassingly cheesy tourist shots. she enjoys doing that (and don't deny it mabel!). we're also going to be drinking slushie girly drinks with bits of fruit and novelty umbrellas. we love novelty drinks.

on another note, my schedule for the fall semester:
  • english 301h mwf 2:30 to 3:20
  • english 335 w 4:00 to 6:50
  • arts 122 tth 10:00 to 11:20
  • english 347 tth 2:30 to 3:50
  • english 109 distance ed
the english 109 course doesn't count as an english course for myself because i am only allowed to have two 100-level english courses. but, i assume it'll be a bird course and i could pick up a few things here and there. plus, no final exam! in general, my english courses all have a variety. so, it's not going to be too much torture. i have a writing course, a literature course, and a theory-lit course... and i guess a grammar course. variety folks. arts 122 shall be a blast and perhaps incredibly hilarious. wish me luck for fall!

on another note, i am procrastinating at the moment. i am supposed to be going over my 208c notes in preparation for thursday's midterm. instead, i am drawn to my LJ in times of boredom. i am also currently soaking my raw denim WESC jeans. other things that must get done tonight:
  • start reading chaucer's house of fame.
  • eat orange.
  • continue to study for english 208c.
  • perhaps, read some of anne of green gables BLAAAH.
  • read more ck iv.
  • pick out 310a essay topic.

    anyways, here is music:
  • rod stewart - "downtain train"
  • the strokes - "barely legal"
